A new technology that could make things much smaller was announced by Hewlett-Packard.
A Cmos-based memory-chip somewhere around 5mm. Now it appears that the memory-chip is 'directed' towards mobiles, pda's, digital cameras, security passes, documents storage.
The memory capabilities of the chips ranges between 64kb and 512kb but obviously this is new technology and it will evolve. But what really makes this technology interesting is the wireless built-in technology which can transfer files or photos at speeds of 10mb/s.
This is ten times faster then the Bluetooth option which is the leader in the mobiles transfer technology.
The chip doesn’t need an external battery because it receives power through inductive coupling from another device, which can extract content from the memory on the chip.
Inductive coupling is a process in which energy can be transferred from a device to another by sharing an electromagnetic field.
If this technology evolves it could change the size of mobile phones and pda's, so we wait for further news from HP.
